Product Photography?

I recently became interested in the differences between product pictures, particularly those that are used on e-commerce sites like Shopify or Amazon. To explore this topic further, I decided to try taking some product pictures myself using a photo tent I bought on Amazon.

After some editing in Lightroom and Photoshop, I was able to get a decent result on my first try. For the light source, I used only the fixture built into the photo tent and didn't bother adding any extra lights.

Photoshop has a neat feature where you can select the "subject" automatically. With a little rework to that selection using the quick selection tool, inverting the selection and setting the background to white was super simple.

Not horrible right? I think with a bit of experimentation, these could be looking pretty snazzy. Why not try it yourself? It's easy, and fun?
